Holiday stress and paying it forward.

Jingle bells, batman smells, Robin laid an egg .. wait what?

It’s holiday time. Here I go again but I really can’t believe we are counting down the weeks to the end of the year.

Many of you are in in holiday mode. Stressing over what to get cousin Bobby, going from client luncheon to holiday party and back again.

I get it. It’s that time of year. Running around is the norm in December.

Because I know that all of you are working on last minute projects from your clients who remembered they had $10,000 left in their budget and didn’t want it to go to waste, I wanted to share some tips to help you get through the holiday season in tact.

I put together A Guide for Women to get through the Holidays. You can download that here.

But really the thing about the holidays is to enjoy the small moments where you can sit back in your seat and acknowledge all that you, and your team, have accomplished this year. Be grateful for the job you have, or for the friends who are supporting you in your job search.

Pay it Forward and send a few emails to thank the people in your life for supporting you this past year. And yes, go ahead and throw in your portfolio site or ask them to introduce you to someone else who can help you find work

Being grateful is not only a nice thing to do, but it also triggers endorphins in your brain that help you feel happy. It’s a fact that doing something nice for someone is a great thing to do, for you and for them.

So this year, volunteer with a cause you believe in. Offer to design a couple of LinkedIn images for a friend, give up your seat on the subway, hold the door for the person behind you. Do something nice for someone else. It will pay you back in spades!
